SIR — In reply to S W Knowles' letter last week, I would like to invite him to join the Royal British Legion and then apply to go on to the branch committee as we are very short of volunteers. This year the branch at Minehead raised £15,500 for the Poppy Appeal and is still raising money. Recently we presented Dunkirk House with £1,000. We are trying to keep our branch going with very few members, and our aim is to still keep raising money for the Poppy Appeal as remembrance is for always, not just one day. As for the Royal British Legion Club, which Mr Knowles described as "a glorified drinking hole", it has over the years raised many thousands of pounds for the branch and the Poppy Appeal. So, Mr Knowles, please join us and then you will see what hard work is done by a few volunteers. P J Collins, Treasurer and Vice-chairman, Minehead Branch, Royal British Legion.
