Three women are pictured promoting the fight against climate change wore cloaks made from upcycled waste fabric and beach detritus collected locally.

They are Jenni Dutton, Rah Cattell and Sue Hannam - all members of the Wiveliscombe Extinction Rebellion Group.

“Our campaign is not about closing motorways or glueing ourselves to the road,” explained Jenni. “What we do is engage with the public to highlight the global environmental problems caused when plastic waste ends up in our oceans.”

“I am a full-time activist and campaigner primarily because I am a grandmother of two boys.

“I care about their future and what is happening to our planet. Climate change is such a massive problem it effects us all. Unless we do something to help, the human race will go.”

Jenni, a former teacher of art and design, has just completed a four-week residency at Watchet’s East Quay.

“One of the things we did there was teach visitors how to.make cloaks from up-cycled waste fabrics and beach detritus such as bits of plastic, bottle tops and old fishing nets washed up on local beaches.” she said. PHOTO: George Ody
