FRIENDS of popular Minehead student Daniel Gaydon, who died tragically while on holiday in Tanzania, have launched a range of hoodies and T- shirts to raise money in his memory. Former school mates Richard Beart and Sean Hardick of Porlock and brothers Mike and Christian Norman from Minehead already have a successful clothing design company called Colony IV. Their casual "lifestyle brand" of surf, skate and BMX wear has a keen army of followers and their latest designs are being stocked in Tony Pryce Sports' surf outlet Wipeout in Minehead, Truro and Taunton. Richard said: "The T-shirts have been printed on bamboo material rather than on cotton, which is in keeping with Dan's environmental beliefs and Colony IV's future plans to offer eco-friendly products. "The memorial design has been created using inspiration from Dan's love of travelling, his passion for exotic animals and enjoyment of diving." Dan was just 26 when he died in a hospital in Tanzania on December 13 last year, seven hours after collapsing, unconscious in a bar. An inquest in Minehead earlier this year ruled Dan died from respiratory failure after combining alcohol and heroin while on holiday in Africa. His parents, Dave and Chris, helped his four former classmates from the West Somerset Community College to launch their new clothing line. The four are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds from the sale of the clothes for the Galapagos Conservation Trust in Dan's memory.
