WEST Somerset Community College's under15 rugby team celebrated in style after beating Courtfields School from Wellington 26-5 in a fiercely-contested Somerset Cup quarter-final.

With little preparation time because of the bad weather, they started slowly and met some strong defence, but eventually Tom Coward went over for a try to give them the lead.

Jay Darrell forced his way over from close range after good driving from the forwards, and although Wellington scored a try, West Somerset went into half time 12-5 up.

George Giles was put in by Will Munroe but he still had work to do before touching down under the posts, the conversion making it 19-5.

The last try was the best, with the ball going wide and Cody Ralph, Frankie Thompson and Ricky Lewis all driving on before Harry Hall found fly-half Tom Reed and he released the backs for Munroe to dummy and cut in under the posts for another converted try.

The team will be at home to Hugh Sexey's School in the semi-finals.
