MORE than 500 people looked behind the scenes of the West Somerset Community College Farm when the gates were thrown open to the public last Saturday.

The second annual open day and fun day at the unit was declared an overwhelming success by organisers.

In addition to the farm's animals, attractions included archery, sheep dog displays, exotic animal demonstrations and games organised by local Young Farmers' members.

Land based studies teacher Kerry Marks said the day had been very enjoyable.

"We would like to thank all the students, parents, Young Farmers and exhibitors for all their hard work in making the day so successful.

"We look forward to an even bigger event next year."
