A GROUP of agricultural students from Minehead's West Somerset Community College have set their sights on glory at this season's prestigious farming shows after coming up trumps at the North Somerset Show at the beginning of the month.
Four students - Hatty Tucker, Sami Jones, Mark Matravers and Joe Mallinson - showed two of the college's Devon Red heifers at the show near Bristol.
The two-year-old Conygar Sapphire the Fourth won her class, heifer born in 2011, then went on to win the overall Devon breed championship.
The students also did well in the young handlers section, bringing home a second and third place.

Sophie Stephens, the college's farm technician who accompanied the students to the North Somerset Show, said: "The students' dedication and commitment was rewarded on the day with an amazing result, which was all the more special as the heifer was bred by us at the college farm.
"We are now looking forward to the rest of the showing season throughout the summer."
