A PORLOCK mother and her daughter, who both have a genetic kidney disease, will be taking part in a fundraising – and celebratory – walk on July 9.

It will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the mother’s kidney transplant and raise funds for research.

Wendy’s Walk is in honour of Wendy Dorrill, 74, who has worked at the Porlock Visitor Centre since it opened nearly 20 years ago.

She lives in sheltered accommodation at Healeys in Porlock, with Peter her husband of 50 years, and will be doing the walk with daughter Clare.

They are hoping local residents, friends and anyone interested will join them to raise funds for the Polycystic Kidney Disease charity, and help them celebrate as well.

The walk is flat and will start at Porlock Visitor Centre at 2pm. It will go through the village, across the marsh to Bossington, returning via Villes Lane to Healeys, with refreshments, a cake stall and fundraising events all afternoon.
