Young Darcey aims for £500 charity fund target with half-marathon-plus runTina Pendray, who has run Tina’s Hair Fashions in Fore Street for over 50 years, decided to do a window display in honour of servicemen and raise money at the same time.
She explained to clients that this year she would not give Christmas cards but each time they came in over December, she would put 20p in a box for Help the Heroes.
The cash soon mounted up, clients and even passers-by also added donations, and £220 was raised which will now be sent to the charity.
Her two windows, with a display called Peace on Earth, had "a terrific response" from passers-by and Williton parish councillors awarded it top marks and the winner’s trophy in the annual Christmas Window Competition, part of the village Christmas Festival.
