INCLEMENT weather did not stop a new Christmas tradition being started by friends and relatives of residents of Dunster Lodge Care Home, Alcombe, on Friday (December 5).

They took part in carol singing and a candlelit procession from the Britannia Inn to the home, where Christmas lights were switched on by Minehead Mayor Cllr Craig Palmer.

The procession was led by Santa and Cllr Palmer, with a ukulele band playing and minced pies, mulled wine, and a barbecue available for everybody.

A marquee was set up in the care home grounds and funds were raised for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, which had a stall.

The care home’s lights display will be on each evening from 5 pm to 11 pm for people to visit and enjoy.
