SIR — This is to thank all traders of Minehead surroundings who still display old fashioned Christmas lights - or at least keep them stationary - rather than the fast pulsating ones or piercing laser type lights. The eyes and brain cannot focus on it, or not for long.

I am writing this on behalf of all vulnerable people, such as babies and small children, the frail and elderly, or the ones who suffer epilepsy, and a not surprising number that have become electro sensitive.

So instead of attracting the shopper to the goods on display, the more aggressive the lights, the quicker one wants to move on!
