Watchet councillors seek volunteers for community speedwatch groupIt was the second year in which the festive season began with celebrations in the orchard using Carhampton’s own carol books, specially made in large print so they could be read in the dark.
The carols were sung to the accompaniment of the Village Band, whose members are drawn from Carhampton and Blue Anchor.
As well as hot spiced apple juice there were mince pies and mulled wine.
The next event in the orchard’s calendar is the annual Wassail from 6.30pm on Old Twelfth Night, January 17, with songs, ceremony and the shooting of rifles to ward off evil spirits from next year’s harvest.
