SIR — May I congratulate the penny pinching councillors who had the bright idea of charging Blue Badge holders to park in their car parks.

I made a tour of all the council car parks in Minehead during the week and found every disabled space vacant, while the surrounding streets were chock-a-block with Blue Badge holders’ cars.

It’s about time these councillors thought about the consequences of their so-called savings schemes.
