TELEVISION host Martin Roberts has chosen West Somerset for the start of a new and very personal challenge – spearheading a nationwide campaign to protect vulnerable children from abuse.

Bath-based Martin, star of BBC1’s hit daytime show Homes Under the Hammer with an audience of two million, has two children aged six and eight.

He briefed West Somerset councillors on how they can persuade local businesses to work with the NSPCC and Childline to sponsor a new schools programme which will throw a lifeline to vulnerable children desperately in need of help and support.

After the West Somerset launch, the project will stretch across the UK and already the organisers are overjoyed by the local response.
