TOWN councillors have agreed to lease a small piece of land in Minehead’s King George V Playing Field to provide a secure outside play area for nursery children.
Cheeky Cherubs Day Nursery and Pre-school, based in Alcombe Children’s Centre, asked for a 25-year lease on a triangle of grassland in front of the building.
It wants to fence off the grassed area and use it for outdoor childcare facilities in a safe environment.
Town clerk Ben Parker said the plot had only limited recreational value compared to the wider playing field.
Councillors were told they could save £500 to £1,000 with maintenance of the area and two trees on it being covered by the nursery, which would also pay all legal costs of the lease.
