A WEST Somerset charity set up to promote family life and well-being across the district is widening its scope for the people and organisations it helps.

Restore Hope West Somerset, a Christian charity launched three years ago, has already given financial aid to Minehead's Hope Centre - which helps the homeless, disadvantaged and people with drug and alcohol problems.

It has also supported Home Start West Somerset, which helps families with children under five.

Now it has handed over a £1,000 donation to PALS - Pro-active Lifestyle and Swimming Water Activities Club.

The money will enable the organisation to provide an additional swimming session each week for both older and disabled people in West Somerset.
