MINEHEAD’S mayor, Cllr Jean Parbrook, stepped down from the role at the town council’s annual meeting on Tuesday – and was elected deputy chairman of West Somerset Council the following day.

Cllr Parbrook, who had been mayor for three years, teams up with Cllr Bruce Heywood, who was re-elected chairman for the third successive year at the district council’s annual meeting on Wednesday.

Cllr Parbrook has been succeeded as Minehead Mayor by Cllr Norman Hercock, with Cllr Gail Everett as his deputy.
