THIS year’s Minehead Christmas lights will be turned on by the winner of a competition to make the most stunning Christmas tree decoration, organisers of the town’s Yuletide festivities announced this week.

MP Rachel Gilmour pressing Government to ban promotion of cruel animal experiencesChildren and young adults are being asked by Christmas festival organisers Gateway Events to hand in their decorations to the Old Hospital, Minehead on Thursday, November 21.
A spokesman said: “Judging will take place on the Gateway Events Facebook page the following week. The decoration with the most likes/reactions will be the winner. There will be 24 hours to cast votes.”
The winning entry will have pride of place on the Old Hospital’s Christmas tree and the lucky winner will switch on the town’s festive lights on Friday, November 29.
This year’s festival attractions will include the return of Danter’s fair, providing adults’ and children’s rides in the town centre from November 29 to December 12, a Christmas grotto at the Old Hospital, festive food stalls, markets and a wide range of music and entertainment.
