CENTENARIAN Gertrude Evans marked her special day with a family gathering at Crowcombe's Carew Arms.
Mrs Evans, who is known as Gertie, was joined by her daughters Molly Walsh and Margaret Brake and her son Dennis Evans.
Born at Upton Farm, Upton, on July 28, 1912, Mrs Evans, nee Govier, left school at the age of 14 and helped on the family farm.
She married her husband Harry Evans at Upton Church in 1937 and the couple lived at Stamborough Farm, Leighland, until 1942 when they moved to Stream Farm, near Williton.

As well as a son and two daughters, she also has eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
When she was younger she enjoyed horse riding and touring the UK, especially Scotland.
She was also a keen cook, gardener and knitter, but now enjoys talking newspapers and books due to failing eyesight.
