SIR — Following your report in the Free Press of January 31 entitled 'Railway accused of unjust charges', my mother and I would like to send our sincere thanks to everyone who has stopped us in the street, shops and supermarkets to voice their support.
Like us they were very surprised that the West Somerset Railway were charging the sum of £325 for such a simple service as burning my father's ashes in one of their locomotive fireboxes.
However, my father was a member of the 6201 Princess Elizabeth Locomotive Society, who upon hearing of our predicament have kindly offered to place my father's ashes in her firebox once her overhaul has been completed later in the year.
They value the support my father has given over the years and are quite happy to do something for him in return.

Letters from our readers across West Somerset and beyondWe are just delighted that someone in the locomotive preservation movement appreciates the help and support my father has given and will allow us to finally carry out what my father would have wanted.
