Bosses at Tyndale Nursing Home decided to go ahead about 18 months ago after having noticed improved efficiency among competitors already pursuing the certificate.
Managing director Hilary Cobban explained: "We saw the improvements in efficiency in our competitors when they undertook the Investors in People programme, so we decided to undergo the process ourselves.
"It took 18 months of hard work but we are delighted with the results. One benefit is improved staff retention. Investors in People has shown them that we care about them as much as our clients."
In Somerset, the Investors in People process is administered by Business Link Somerset whose managing director Peter Harvey said: "The award sends out a clear message that a company cares about its staff, which in turn benefits the staff and acts as a quality assurance for clients."
