A MINEHEAD family who could hardly make car journeys in case their little son stopped breathing, has been given a new lease of life after a disabled children’s charity stepped in.
Siobhan and Stephen Lennon-Patience could only make quick, essential journeys with Lorcan, two, who has achondroplasia, or dwarfism.
Children with this condition can develop spine curvature, so he needed to be kept upright to prevent his head slumping forward and his airway being blocked.
It meant even the 45-minute journey for hospital appointments proved difficult for the family, while visiting Lorcan’s grandmother in London and friends and relatives further away, was impossible.
Now Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children has provided a £462 specialist car seat that will keep him upright, protect his spine and ensure he is really comfortable.
