A WILLITON parish councillor is urging local people to take part in a consultation on plans for a zebra crossing in Doniford Road outside St Peter’s First School.
A letter has been sent by Somerset County Council to people living near the site, informing them about consultation on the crossing and a proposed extra 92 metres of double yellow lines to aid visibility for it.
Cllr Guy Denton said: “I am concerned it is going to get a lot busier there in the future, with building development and the park and ride scheme.
“Unless we look at this now, we run the risk of playing catch-up,” he said.
“There is no lollipop person now and, with traffic parked there, it’s very difficult.
“It’s only a matter of time before there is another serious accident.”
He is urging people to give their views by scrolling to Doniford Road at somerset.gov. uk/policies-and-plans/schemes-and-initiatives/small-improvement-schemes.
