FLOWERS, cards and a special cake helped centenarian Olive Putt celebrate her 103rd birthday at the Winsor Nursing Home in Minehead.
Mrs Putt (pictured) was joined by relatives, friends and fellow residents for an anniversary tea party.
Born in Sleighford, Lincolnshire, she married her late husband Ronald in London in 1939, just as World War Two broke out.
Having trained as a nurse and worked at the North Middlesex Hospital, Mrs Putt found herself driving ambulances around London during the blitz.

Minehead Tesco customers help charities feed thousands of families over Christmas And while on duty one day she spotted a pile of rags near a bomb site, which on closer inspection she found contained a baby.
Mrs Putt not only rescued the youngster but also ensured that the baby was later adopted.
In 1969 she and Ronald retired to Porlock - he had been born in Minehead so was returning to live in an area he knew well.
Since moving into the Winsor, Mrs Putt has kept up her hobbies of reading, needlework and crochet.
Although she has no children, her niece Noreen is a regular visitor, along with a close friend and they joined her for the special celebration.
