Yesterday’s Somerset West and Taunton Council by-election for Old Cleeve and district ward was won by Liberal Democrat Stephen Griffiths with 500 votes.

Martin Dewdney (Conservative) had 494 votes and Richard Lillis 120.

The turn-out was 28 per cent.
