A REALISTIC life-sized sculpture of a stag which has been generously given to Minehead.
Now installed on a grassy bank to the west of the busy roundabout, the statue was donated by Pete Marshall, owner of The Junk Shop, Carhampton.
Town councillor Gail Everett had spotted it on the forecourt and wondered whether the council should buy it to brighten up the entrance to the town.
“Mr Marshall very kindly offered to donate the stag to Minehead,” said the town council’s operations manager Simon Bruford.

“After many months of bureaucracy, a personal cheque for £150 from Cllr Everett and a £350 donation from the town council, a licence was granted by Somerset County Council.
“Now the stag is finally installed – and hopefully will be a Minehead attraction for years to come.”
