A NEW step has been taken towards supporting the economy and community of the Quantock Hills as well as the landscape and wildlife.
The Quantock Hills Local Business Directory lists farm and forestry services, camping and caravan sites, post offices, shops, food outlets and many other enterprises.
It has been produced at the request of the Quantock Hills Joint Advisory Committee - JAC - as one of the action points in the management strategy.
The directory, which is free, is published by the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty Service and will be updated when necessary.
AONB officer for the Quantocks Chris Edwards said: "This directory is an important step in supporting the Quantock economy and the local environment.
"It has established our rural economy project which will be further enhanced through marketing initiatives as they are developed.
"We believe that greater use of local goods and services would bring benefits to the Quantock Hills such as maintaining and improving village shops and services and saving transport costs."
The directory is available at outlets such as libraries, visitor centres and council information points or direct from the Quantock Hills AONB office in Castle Street, Nether Stowey.
Support has been given by the county, West Somerset, Taunton Deane and Sedgemoor councils and the Countryside Agency.
