A BAND of musicians aged from five to 83 raised £8,168 for a charity’s mobile chemotherapy unit – and a special cheque presentation took place last week outside Minehead Community Hospital.

The money raised was from a double concert held recently at St Andrew’s Church by the 45-strong Bumble Band, in support of Somerset’s Hope for Tomorrow mobile chemotherapy unit Bumble, that brings cancer treatment closer to patients’ homes.

The cheque was presented to Hope for Tomorrow representatives behind the hospital, where the mobile unit parks up, with some band members and Bumble nurses present.

It will go towards raising £150,000 for Bumble’s New Body Appeal, as the mobile unit has been operating for nearly eight years and needs an upgrade.

“Everyone is touched by this horrible disease and we just want to make sure we can keep Bumble on the road,” said Minehead clarinet and saxophone teacher Bev Trimmings, who organised the Bumble Band concert.

“For cancer sufferers, it removes the stress of travelling miles for treatment.”
