THE Steam Coast Trail – an ongoing project to build a network of multi-user paths around West Somerset – is the latest cause to be given a donation by Brook Food Processing Equipment.

The Williton-based company is celebrating its silver anniversary year by choosing a different charity each month and making a donation of £25 for every customer order of £1000 or more.

The Steam Coast Trail was the choice for July, and Brook’s joint owner Ann Wells presented a cheque for £1475. This brought the total donated by Brook so far this year to over £11,000.

Walkers, runners, cyclists and wheelchair users can all use the Steam Coast Trail, which provides knock-on benefits to individuals’ health and to the local economy through attracted tourism.

Brook recently signed up many of its team members to the Cycle to Work scheme and they are making full use of the pathways on their commute to Williton.

The cheque was presented on National Cycle to Work Day, Thursday August 8, to Sarah Ellwood and Harry Singer, from the Steam Coast Trail.

Ann said: “The Steam Coast Trail is enjoyed by many of us at Brook. Not only is it used by many for the commute to work but also at the weekends with our families.

“The initiative to improve the facilities along the coastline in our area is admirable and appreciated by many. If with this donation we can help the cause and the organisers increase or improve the trail in some way then we would be delighted.”
