WITH Remembrance Day on the horizon, Williton-based Brook Food Processing focused on the Royal British Legion as its fundraising cause for October.
The company has been celebrating its 25th anniversary this year by donating to a different local charity each month £25 for every order received of £1000 or more.
The October donation to Watchet branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) amounted to £1,475, bringing the total raised through the year to over £17,000.
Presenting the cheque to some of the Watchet RBL team on Thursday November 7, Brook Food co-owner Ann Wells said: “This charity is one that offers support to many and often their hard work goes unnoticed.
“Not only does the donation offer a chance to say thank you to those running the local branch of this long standing organisation but it also indirectly thanks those in the area who have served our country and may in some small way make use of the services of the Royal British Legion.”
The Royal British Legion is a charity founded to ensure that remembrance is kept alive, that the sacrifices made by service men and women are never forgotten, and that the ex-service community have a voice and that their concerns are brought to the public eye.
Watchet RBL branch chairman Fred Powis thanked Brook Food for the donation: “It will help serving and non-serving people and their families to deal with different problems which they might encounter with being in the services, especially those local to Watchet.”
