MORE traders have been able to join the regular West Somerset Farmers' Market thanks to new outdoor marquees.

Organisers were given grants from the Devon and West Somerset Key Fund and West Somerset District Council to buy small marquees after the market outgrew its indoor venue at Minehead's St John Ambulance Hall.

The marquees mean more farmers can now sell their produce at the markets, which are held on the third Friday of each month, both in and outside of the hall.

Chairman of the market committee, Allison Hart, of Blue Anchor Home Farm, said: "This investment is a real vote of confidence by both of the funders and will help confirm the market as a retail outlet for local food direct to local customers."
