The garden at Elworthy Cottage is open for the National Gardens Scheme on Monday (May 31) from 11am to 4pm.

Massive improvements approved for deteriorating Watchet Coastguard StationThe garden is planted to encourage birds, bees and butterflies. At this time of year, it is full of colour from perennials such as hardy geraniums, alliums, poppies, cornflowers, astrantias and violas as well as many unusual flowering shrubs and trees.
There is also a decorative and productive vegetable garden and wildflower areas. Black leaved cow-parsley is a star plant at this time of the year along with the stunning blue of camassias. There are lots of seats in the garden with good views of the surrounding countryside.
There will not be any refreshments available but visitors are welcome to bring a picnic. There will be plants for sale. Admission £4; children enter free.
n Unfortunately, the opening advertised in the yellow book for Tuesday, June 15 has had to be cancelled.
