Three fire crews respond as barn full of straw catches light near StogurseySocial enterprises Onion Collective and Biohm are holding the meeting to present and discuss their plans for the facility. The partnership between the two organisations follows a year-long feasibility study by Onion Collective. The conclusion was to pursue bio-based material development – low carbon alternatives to plastics created from locally sourced, natural raw materials.
Onion Collective sought advice from industry professionals and met with Biohm, which is a leading research and development bio-tech company, taking inspiration from nature to create new, highly efficient and environmentally regenerative materials.
Together the groups now hope to build on West Somerset’s existing skillset and reputation as leaders in recycling to create new jobs and materials fit for the future.
The project will be set up in one of the existing buildings at the mill site in the first instance. The plan is to use this time and funding to develop and prove the idea, in time for the redevelopment of the site.
The open meeting will be at 6.30pm in the Methodist Church in Harbour Road. Representatives from both Onion Collective and Biohm will be present and it will include a question and answer session.
