TEACHERS at Williton's Danesfield Middle School can enjoy the summer holidays all the more for knowing that the school has taken a big leap forward.

For the third year running, Danesfield has improved its standards at key stage two at both level 4 and level 5.

And for the first time ever, the prestigious level 6 was gained in two subjects, maths and science.

Results in English, maths and science were all up on last year with English and maths sharing the biggest increase.

English at level 4 has improved by 35 per cent and at level 5 by 21.7 per cent over the past three years.

Head teacher Ian Bradbury was delighted with the results and praised the work of staff and pupils and the support of parents.

"Although the full picture at both middle school and national levels is unclear, early indications are that Danesfield will come out very well nationally and in Somerset," he said.
