AN event to raise funds for the charity Elliot’s Touch is being held in Watchet on Saturday afternoon (March 3) on a theme of blue.
Local driving instructor Steve Page is organising the Big Blue Photo at the Bell Inn, in Watchet, as part of the charity’s Wear It Blue day in memory of Elliot Stevens, who died three years ago.
His parents Donna and Paul Stevens went on to set up Elliot’s Touch and have gone on to raise over £100,000 for research and raising awareness of cardiomyopathy (diseases of the heart muscle) in children, and mitochondrial disease, a possible cause of cardiomyopathy, for which there is currently no cure.
Now Steve is calling on people to come along at 2.30pm to the pub wearing blue, and take part in a giant photo.
“We’re trying to raise awareness and raise money, to show the community cares and is right behind the charity,” he said.
“Donna and Paul are inspiring people. They’ve been through so much and are doing so much.”
He said many people have been saying they will come along for the blue photo , including members of the Stevens family, and the pub can hold about 60.
As well as the big photo, there will be a musician, raffles and competitions, with help from local businesses.
