A MINEHEAD drop-in centre to support people who are down on their luck has been given a £1,074 boost.
Staff at TSB Bank raised the money for the Hope Centre over the course of a year by organising a quiz evening, bingo and bake sales.
The Hope Centre Minehead, based at the Baptist Church, offers a drop-in every Monday and Tuesday to support people in the community who are homeless, have drugs or alcohol related problems or are lonely or disadvantaged.
“It was a real pleasure to work alongside the Hope Centre,” said Craig Goodchild, local banker to the centre’s chairman of trustees the Rev Simon Robinson.

Specifically, it will go towards providing hot meals, washing facilities and overnight accommodation when required for our rough sleepers.
“Our clients find themselves in desperate situations beyond what most of us could endure so this money will be put to very good use.”
The Hope Centre is run by volunteers when it opens on a Monday and Tuesday between 10.30am and 2pm. Anyone wishing to help or make a donation of money, bedding, clothing or food is asked to email [email protected] or call Ian, the project worker, on 07949 642774.
