SIR — It's good news that the long awaited Morrisons build is finally under way in Minehead, bringing new jobs to the area and real competition to Tesco, which up until now has enjoyed a monopoly on the town fringe shopping.

And the proposed supermarket in Williton, with a projected 100 plus jobs, is even better news for the survival of Williton's existing shops, though most could benefit from a decent refit and modernisation as well.

The question is which supermarket would be attracted to this site.

My bet is that Waitrose and M&S Food won't be interested, but Sainsbury might, given they have no presence in Minehead, though the site may be too small for them.

Most likely Lidl or Aldi would find this site attractive and be a good counter-balance to the Co-op/Spar stranglehold on Williton and Watchet.
