CHILDREN at Knights Templar First School in Watchet found themselves taking a step back in time as they commemorated the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two. The youngsters turned up for lessons in 1940s style clothing and were given an insight into life as a wartime evacuee from grandparents who spent the morning at the school. Stephen Johns from Dunster Museum added to the nostalgia with wartime uniforms and a delivery van from the era. Dianne Turner from the DREAMS dancing academy was joined by Ruther Palmer-Cooper and Gillian Philpot to stage a 1940s dance routine, while pianist Graham Kennedy entertained with some wartime tunes. The day was topped off with a street party in the school grounds, complete with colourful bunting and trestle tables.
