TWO community stalwarts have been honoured with prestigious awards by the Rotary Club of Minehead. Dennis Taylor and Fred Owen each received a Paul Harris Award in recognition of their voluntary service to the community of Minehead. Mr Taylor has long been involved with the West Somerset Railway and his unstinting support has helped to see it grow from an ailing organisation to a hugely successful tourist attraction. Mr Taylor has also supported the West Somerset Community College as a governor and held the post of chairman for several years. Mr Owen received his award for service to the theatre and is well-know as both an amateur actor and author of both plays and musicals. Assisted by his wife Jenny, the pair can usually be found either behind the scenes or on stage at most performances held at the town's Regal Theatre. The Paul Harris awards are named after the founder of Rotary International and are rarely presented.
