A GROUP of artists from in and around the Quantocks held a one-day ‘Big Studio Sale’ on Saturday (May 26) and donated part of the proceeds to two charities.

Carhampton public house reopened as four generations of family return to rootsFor many years, the artists have had a large mixed exhibition of painting and pottery to coincide with the May Fair in Nether Stowey – but there was no fair this year.
Instead, the group held their own event with the aim of selling off the mass of work that they had accumulated in their studios at bargain basement prices.
They donated 20 per cent of the net proceeds to Musgrove Park Hospital’s Love Musgrove £1 million appeal for a third MRI scanner and Nether Stowey’s St Mary’s Church.
It was an outstanding success with lots of paintings, prints and pottery changing hands.
