ARSONISTS are thought to have started a fire which destroyed some two acres of gorse on Dunkery Beacon on Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived to find the gorse well alight with strong winds fanning the flames. Exmoor National Park rangers also attended the scene and the wildfire pump was mobilised from Porlock.

The fire was put out with two high pressure fogging units, a hose reel jet and beaters.
