THE Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, visited West Somerset College, rural parishes and the farming community on Exmoor this week.

His visits, including a pub lunch, were part of a tour around the diocese of Bath and Wells from Monday to Wednesday.

“It’s been fantastic to be in the Diocese of Bath and Wells, seeing local churches praying for, loving and serving their communities,” he said.

“I’ve been given a very warm welcome, but also been asked some very searching questions, notably from the students at West Somerset College who were great.

“I’ve also been able to listen – to hear of the challenges and joys of living and ministering in rural communities and of the difference that the school pastors can make to the life of the school and it’s invaluable knowledge for me to take away.”
