DOG walkers are needed in Washford by a charity that offers pet care to older and terminally ill people.

The Cinnamon Trust is appealing for volunteers to help a Washford resident and their dog Blue, an 11-year-old whippet who would relish a good walk.

Many elderly people worry if illness, injury or age affects their ability to look after their pets, feeling that their only option is to re-home them.

That is where the Cinnamon Trust’s national network of volunteers steps in to offer support, enabling pet and owner to stay together.

Volunteers will walk the dog for a housebound owner, foster pets when owners need hospital care, fetch the cat food and even clean out the bird cage or litter trays.

All volunteers help in the ways that are most appropriate to them and work in teams.
