The Yeovil Town Centre Initiatives (YTCI) was expected to have public funding of £137,514 confirmed for the next three years as this paper went to press.
Funds for the initiative have come from the public, private and voluntary sectors since the first town centre manager was appointed in 1998.
The role of YTCI is described as "achieving through working in partnership with others".
Anti-crime and anti-disorder schemes have been high on the agenda, with the creations of a pubwatch scheme and the Yeovil Retail Crime Reduction Team are prime examples of achievements.
The current town centre manager, Nina Higgins, is on a three-year contract that expires in October this year, and councillors have been asked to pledge their support for another three years by earmarking £137,514 for YTCI.
CORE FUNDING
A report circulated to members of South Som-erset District Council's Area South Committee said: "The corporate director (south) and the chairman of Yeovil Town Centre Partnership have met with the core funding partners from the private sector, who are happy to continue their funding on the basis of an annual review.
"However, to ensure the continuity and security of the initiative, members are asked to pledge support for a three-year period."
According to the three-year budget, between £15,000-£16,000 will come from the private sector for each of the next three years.
Sources of income for 2002-03, for example, are listed as: private sector £15,000, South Somerset District Council £45,725, Yeovil Town Council £7,500 and CVS £500.
Major expenses for that year are listed as: salaries £43,600, support service costs £13,000, project work £5,000 and premises £3,500.
