SIr — Minehead Amnesty Group would like to thank everyone who spent their afternoon on Tuesday November 18 writing letters and cards in support of people denied justice in 12 countries, from Europe to the Far East. In the space of one and a half hours, 35 letters and 12 cards were written and "posted" into the Amnesty letterbox. All are now on their way to individual human rights defenders, to police chiefs, to ministers, presidents and a king. Amnesty International has its roots in letter-writing, and although we now use emails and social media, well-informed hand-written letters remain at the heart of what we do. Please join us at our next letter-writing session, which will be advertised. The photo, by Alison Dietz, is of Amnesty members writing letters. Jill Walmsley, Minehead Amnesty Group.
