The South Western Ambulance Service is looking to recruit volunteers across Somerset. The Service is "particularly interested" in volunteers from Minehead, Williton and Wiveliscombe.

The NHS are advertising "Exciting volunteering opportunities" within the SWAS. They are looking for Community First Responders, which are trained volunteers within a community who are able to attend emergency calls on behalf of SWAS.

Community First Responders are expected to administer patient care, including life support, until an emergency ambulance can arrive.

The role requires applicants to have "a good all round education", a full driving license held for at least a year with less than 6 points and access to a fully taxed and MOT'd vehicle.

If shortlisted, candidates will be invited to attend a formal interview. Candidates will be required to obtain the Level 3 Award for First Responders on Scene during training in order to complete the recruitment process.

The closing date for applications is March 5. Interviews are scheduled to be held in the Bridgwater area from March 20. The 5 day training course will take place in Oakhill, Radstock.
