WIVELISCOMBE Community First Responders were awarded the 2017 achievement prize by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAST).
The group currently consists of nine volunteers and has been responding to emergencies in the 10 Parishes for over 16 years, helping to support patients in their time of need.
As well as responding to these emergencies, the group also helps to support the provision and awareness of new community public access defibrillators in the town and surrounding areas.
Always willing to be involved and to provide the best possible service to patients, the group has recently taken part in the new lifting equipment pilot which is proving very effective in SWAST’s patient treatment options.
Adrian Healey, SWAST community responder officer Somerset and Bristol, said: “Patient care, compassion and a team ethos encompass the spirit of this group of amazing responders who demonstrate on a daily basis their vital link in our response to patients and this group award couldn’t be more deserved.”
