SELWORTHY-based fundraiser Ali Le-Mar will be setting off on her fourth charity adventure later this year when she tackles some of the highest peaks in the country.

Ali has already raised £15,000 for the Brooke Hospital for Animals by trekking across India and Mongolia on horseback and is now aiming to take her fundraising tally even higher.

In August, she will be joining fellow fundraisers to climb five peaks in the Lake District in just 12 hours.

And this time, she will have to go on foot rather than on horseback!

"I have to raise £250 but I'm hoping to raise at least £1,000 for the Brooke.

"I've supported them for many years now - I've ridden across India twice and trekked in Mongolia - as they do a wonderful job helping horses and their owners in some of the toughest places in the world," Ali said.

The Brooke is an international animal welfare organisation which is dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules in the world's poorest communities.

The charity provides treatment, training and animal health and well-being programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Ali will be hoping to support that work when she steps out in the Lake District, ascending more than 5,000 feet in just 12 hours.

"I do a lot of walking anyway as I have two dogs but I'm doing a hill a day now in preparation.

"I'll also be getting in some sneaky practice when I do the Cumbrian Challenge with a group of friends in June," Ali said.
