WATCHET Carnival has launched the 2010 season of the annual extravaganza with the unveiling of its 'Face of Carnival'.
Local youngster Abbie Scott, a year four pupil at the town's Knights Templar First School, produced the image which has been adopted as this year's 'face.'
An art project by Oak class was the source of the design that has been incorporated into publicity material for this year's event, which takes place on July 25.
Watchet LIVE CIC - the organisation which stages the carnival and is the successor to Watchet Carnival Club, is planning a full day of entertainment, which gets underway at 11am on The Esplanade.
The attractions will include a Coleridge poetry reading, music from brass and samba bands and performances by shantymen and Morris dancers.
The carnival parade itself will wend its way through the streets following its traditional route to the fete on the town's Memorial Ground, which will be in full swing from 1pm.
And at the fete, visitors will find plenty to keep them entertained, with the successful carnivalites also being presented with their trophies.
Spinach for Norman, a folk and ceilidh group, will present a first for Watchet - an air dance, which is a barn dance without the barn.
Cedric's Carnival Bar will dispense its usual good cheer and organisers are also promising plenty of entertainment throughout the evening.
Entries for the carnival parade are now being taken and more details are available on 01984 641337.
