A children’s project in Minehead has seen a number of brightly-painted birdboxes being installed around the Seaward Way estate.

Youngsters spent some time painting the boxes in vivid colours, with help from Live West, Magna Housing, Minehead Eye, Avon and Somerset Police, Sam Murrell from Somerset West and Taunton Council, and Louise Reynolds from Exmoor National Park.

Local handyman Jason Seacombe put the 14 bird boxes up.

The families on the estate have not had any communal activities since before Covid-19 lockdown measures were put in place.

The painting took place on the estate’s multi-use games area in Sandpiper Road.

Artist Charlie Mcfarley from Minehead Eye painted an outside boarded area and made the games area more welcoming.

The Seaward Estate volunteers said future events were planned.
