Council shows Minehead social housing has gone to 'locals' and not migrantsMinehead coastguard had visited the scene the previous day but a rising tide prevented any action and the grenade’s position was logged for the bomb disposal experts.
A Coastguard spokesman said: “Once they were on the scene, they checked the item over and confirmed what it was. But they concluded it no longer contained any explosive and took it away to be disposed of.”
The spokesman added that recent stormy weather can cause such items to be unearthed and anyone suspecting that they are ordnance should call the Coastguard on 999.
